Popular Electronics DIGI-VISTA
A True Electronic Digital Clock
By Charles G. Kay and Daniel Meyer

The digital clock was one of my first design projects for Southwest Technical. I was still in college at the time. I worked at SWTPC two or three afternoons a week during the school year and full time during the Summer and holidays. I was home one of those afternoons that I usually worked because I just had a dental procedure done. I had called in sick which was rare for me. The doorbell rang and it was Daniel Meyer. He had driven over to personally deliver a $500 check from Popular Electronics as payment for the digital clock article. I was shocked! Very few college students are lucky enough to have their part time employer drive over to their house to hand deliver a check for $500. It meant a lot to me at the time and is something I will never forget.
