How to use HyperTerminal

Terminal emulator programs written for DOS will not work under Windows 2000 or Windows XP. However Windows comes with a terminal emulator, HyperTerminal.

Start HyperTerminal (Programs  -> Accessories -> Communications -> HyperTerminal

When HyperTerminal starts you should see this dialog.

Enter a name then press OK. You will then see this dialog.

Select COM1 or COM2. (The port your cable in connected to.) Press OK

Select the desired baud rate. Press OK.

The above screen shows 6800 SWTBUG. The extra characters at the beginning each line are control characters for the CT-1024 terminal. You need to use Upper Case for SWTBUG. (You have found a use for Caps Lock.)
